The higher the AQI value, the greater the level of air pollution and the greater the health concern. For example, an AQI value of 50 represents good air quality with little potential to affect public health, while an AQI value over 300 represents hazardous air quality with potentially serious health effects. AirNote1 An AQI value of 100 generally corresponds to the National Ambient Air Quality Standard for the pollutant, which is the level EPA has set to protect public health. AQI values below 100 are generally thought of as satisfactory. When AQI values are above 100, air quality is considered to be unhealthy, first for certain sensitive groups of people, then for everyone as AQI values get higher. AirNote2 AQI is divided into six levels. These levels are: Good (0-50), Moderate (51-100), Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups (101-150), Unhealthy (151-200), Very Unhealthy (201-300), and Hazardous (301-500). Air The number of monitored days is separate for each monitored county. Combining multiple counties by year will result in a total number of days that exceeds the number of days in a year. For example, if a user selects Salt Lake County and Duchesne County in the Percent Module and displays by Year and groups by AQI, the results for Total Number of AQI Days in Category and Total Number of Monitored Days will be the sum of both Salt Lake County and Duchesne County. Although AQI includes all available pollutant measurements, it is important to be aware that many areas have monitoring stations for some, but not all, of the pollutants. Furthermore, not all counties or CBSA have monitors. A daily index value is calculated for each air pollutant measured. The highest of those index values is the AQI value. Overview The Air Quality Index (AQI) is a tool for reporting daily air quality. It tells you how clean or polluted your air is, and what associated health effects might be a concern for you. The AQI data in this IBIS-Q query module have been derived from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Air Quality System Data Mart. The data include values for Utah counties or Utah core based statistical areas (CBSA). AQI is an indicator of overall air quality because it considers all the criteria air pollutants measured within a geographic area. Although AQI includes all available pollutant measurements, you should be aware that many areas have monitoring stations for some, but not all, of the pollutants. Furthermore, not all counties or CBSAs have air quality monitors. Maximum AQI Value The Maximum AQI value is the highest daily AQI value in the year. Getting Started Follow the steps to narrow your query and display your results. When you are done forming your query, click "Submit" bottom of the screen (last step) to get your query result.

Filter by year group Single years Year Selecting years Select a range of years. Use Ctrl to make multiple selections. The year groupings you select here will be used to display your results if you choose "year" below in the display the results step. For instance, if you choose "Single years" here, and choose "Year/Year Groups" in the display the results step, your query results will be displayed for single years, for the range of years you selected. If you select "3-year groups", "5-year groups" or if you enter custom year groups, your query results will be aggregated within those year groups. Year 5
AQI Select AQI AQI 1 Air Quality Index Good days (0-50): Air quality is considered satisfactory, and air pollution poses little or no risk to health. Moderate days (51-100): Air quality is acceptable; however, for some pollutants there may be a moderate health concern for a very small number of people who are unusually sensitive to air pollution. Sensitive (101-150): Members of sensitive groups may experience health effects. The general public is not likely to be affected. Unhealthy days (151-200): Everyone may begin to experience health effects; members of sensitive groups may experience more serious health effects. Very unhealthy and hazardous days (201 or higher): This includes the AQI categories very unhealthy and hazardous. Very few locations have any days in the very unhealthy or hazardous categories. Unhealthy days: health alert; everyone may experience more serious health effects. Hazardous days: health warnings of emergency conditions. The entire population is more likely to be affected. AQI Select AQI days. Default is all AQI days. Filter by AQI AQI
